Unification of Italy March 17 national holiday Units

On March 17, 1861 King Vittorio Emanuele II proclaimed the unification of Italy.

On the occasion of 150th anniversary of that date, just for this year will be March 17 national holiday.

The news was announced by the Secretary to the Prime Minister Gianni Letta during a press conference.

The schools will remain closed, and President Napolitano will pay tribute to the memory of the first head of state visited the tomb at the Pantheon.

The "day of the flag" will be preceded by "night tricolor" with events held at the discretion of Commons.
